A new Tank Corps Memorial for Flanders

    This photo is included in a fascinating set of photos ... take a look !! :)

    The photo is from the 1930`s German book "Der Weltkrieg im Bild" and depicts a destroyed British tank bogged down in the morass that was the battlefield of Passchendaele 1917. This picture was taken near to St Julien and is dated the 12th October 1917. How anyone could send the Tank Corps into battle in these conditions where soldiers drowned if they fell off the duckboards, is beyond belief. Later this year 2009 a new memorial to those members of the Tank Corps who fought and fell in the mud of Flanders will be dedicated.
