Somebody asked me about this medal ... all I know is ... it's Norwegian .... can anybody tell me anything about it please ?? Annie
nearest I found was this http://www.medals.org.uk/norway/norway-text.htm and spelt as edel dd which probably transalates as "Heroic deeds". So maybe Aadel Daad Medal is not a specific medal but a group of medals? Just ba guess
I'm sure you're right ! though I think it's just one medal !! ... I also read it meant "Noble deeds " !!
The Edel Dad Medal (Medal for Heroism) was instituted 19 August 1885, to be awarded for acts of bravery in the attempt to save life. The award has two classes - Gold & Silver (Gold being for when the threat to the life of the recipient is judged as being substantial). As to finding a picture of the award, we might have to resort to those strange oblong things with pages in them? In 1982 a similarly named Military Medal of Heroism was instituted for the Armed Services. Here's a link to some more information. How's your Norwegian??? http://translate.google.co.uk/trans...p://www.geocities.com/dagtho/res19051220.html
This seems to be quite a rare medal. Couldn't find a pic in colour so you will have to get out your silver or gold crayon and fill it in.
