I have recently purchased on a whim this stunning watercolour of a soldier dated 23/12/44. It has been folded in the centre to make a card and you can currently see the inside. The outside simply says Rome 1944. Amazingly at the bottom of the shadow are three finger prints in the paint, which can only be seen on a large scan. I know its a really long shot, but does anyone out there recognise this soldier, his rank, ribbon bar or anything else? It appears to be the work of a trained artist who may have been a pal, or possibly just a local. c
