I'm struck by the parallels in these campaigns in that Allied forces managed an outflanking sea landing that caught the opposition by surprise and could have ended their respective campaigns. Instead, both generals decided to consolidate with the result that thousands of lives were lost. I wonder what MacArthur was thinking as his troops landed at Inchon in Korea?
