Very interesting. The way in which the casualty rates varied at different times in the war (early '42 seems to have been the worst for Bomber Command) was interesting; sometimes the worst figures seem to be given as the norm for the whole war, in which case the campaign would have been unsustainable. Nevertheless, the deaths of 110,000 "well-educated and highly-trained" young men was a terrible price to pay.
