Gareth Dowson, Aubrey Osler MC played for England Internationals: 1 : 1899 S- Aubrey Dowson was born on 10 November 1875 Played as a Forward for: Rugby School, Oxford University (Blue 1896), Moseley, Manchester, Midlands Profession: Manufacturer/farmer War service: Commissioned on 6 May 1915. Temporary Lieutenant from 6 May 1916. A/Major, 12th Battalion, Rifle Brigade, 60th Brigade, 20th (Light) Division; Mentioned in Despatches 25 May 1917, MC Gazetted 1 January 1918 Remarks: Member of New College VIII which won the Grand Challenge Cup, at Henley in 1897. Athletics blue (shot and hammer) 1895-1897. He died on 5 October 1940
DOWSON, MR. AUBREY OSLER, who died on October 5, at Salisbury, was in the Rugby XI of 1892 and 1893. Earning more fame at Rugby football, he played for Oxford in 1896, and three years later was in the England XV against Scotland.
