I work for a production company called Simply Media (.: Simply Media :., Simply Home Entertainment – A great choice of DVDs and videos) and we are currently making a 12 part series on World War II. I am currently working on one of these episodes about the Battle of the Atlantic and am looking for various contributors to be interviewed as part of the series. I would very much like to interview merchant seamen / royal navy personnel who were operating in the Atlantic during WWII. The series is being planned for one of the history channels on Sky and also for DVD.

I would like to film in the new year and am happy to travel to the interviewee. The crew would consist of myself, interviewer and cameraman. We could film in the interviewees at home or in a suitable location near to where they live. The interview process won’t take anymore than a morning or an afternoon. I have a budget of about £200 to pay as an appearance fee.

You can reach me on 020 7608 8672 or email me at aaron.hutchinson@simplymedia.tv.

    Many thanks

Good luck with the production Aaron. Finding these men who are all at least in their 80's is a task in itself.

Hopefully one of our maritime guru's may be able to assist.

    Cheers

I know some wartime merchant seamen veterans who are very active on a couple of maritime sites.

Try the same post here: Ships Nostalgia

    I wish you well.

And try to interview some DEMS gunners, they always get forgotten. Also the men who were on the Destroyers, usually WW1 classes such as the V&W's that patrolled up and down the home waters to escort merchentmen from port to port.

There is a V&W Association who meet once a year.
