    New Zealand author Richard Stowers, author of Bloody Gallipoli and Waikato Troopers, has released his new book about Wing Commander Fraser Barron. Barron flew 79 raids over Europe before his death in a collision over Le Mans, France, in May 1944. His stellar wartime career saw him rise from Sergeant to Wing Commander and receive his multiple honours in just three years of service.

    I wasn't immediately aware of Barron although I'm sure I've read about him in the past ... somewhere. He flew with 7 and 15 Sqns and was on his third tour when killed. Certainly someone who deserves more recognition. He must have been a hell of a leader and pilot.
