My grandfather was a Seaforth Highlander (I think). I remember him telling me about Cologne Cathedral when I was a wee boy. Later in life I realised the only time he could have seen the Cathedral, was during his war service. Is there a definitive list of regiments, or indeed soldiers, who were stationed in Germany at the end of hostilities?
Hi carndook and welcome ! After WWI - ( during which several minor air raids had targeted the city ) Cologne was occupied by British Forces until 1926 under the terms of the armistice and the subsequent Versailles Peace Treaty ! I'm not sure about a definitive list but can you tell us a little more about him ? his name - family stories etc ( even a photo ! ) maybe we can help find his proper regiment !! Annie
