Interesting - I've only had time to read the summary, but it seems the testers were impressed. I don't think the recommendation for British fighters to be "small and light with a nose-wheel undercarriage to prevent skittishness" ever came to pass - unless you count the Gnat.

I wonder what happened to this 109G? I have a feeling that the "Black 4" which was restored and flown at Duxford in the 90's was found in North Africa - I wonder if it was that one?

'Black 6' was the one restored and subsequently pranged, AR. She was 'acquired' by 3 Sqn RAAF, IIRC. However, the squadron added three '109s to their strength. One at Gambut in November 1942 was subsequently lost to HQ but they managed to score another two when they moved to Martuba. The one found at Gambut was Black 6 and I think the test results on the website relate to that aircraft.
