Somebody asked me if there is a list about the Mosquitoes that had been shot down over the UK due to friendly fire - ( were most shot down by Mustangs ? )

    I have no idea ...... I did a search but didn't see anything !

    Wow, that'd be tricky.

I did read something recently about USAAF fighters mistaking a Mossie for an Me 410. i think it was on here.

Ah, of course, it's all coming back to me now. The author Brian Cull (who I believe is the Brian in that thread) has been researching friendly fire incidents for a while now.

Well it wasn't him who asked me of course !!!!!!

But it made for some quite shocking reading didn't it ? :noidea:

Yes, a phenomenal and bloody surprising, if not slightly disturbing, number of losses.

Brian's thread has been very interesting. As to finding FF losses, as you can see from that list, there is no comprehensive list. But to find the cause of losses for Mossies have a look at:

    http://www.dehavilland.ukf.net/_DH98 prodn list.txt

A hard slog but there are a few noted being shotdown by friendly aircraft or by AA over friendly territory
