My father Harry Whittaker served as a gunner in the Royal Artillery in WW2 , in North Africa, Greece and Italy. He had a friend named Chivers, nickname "Chiv", who was a talented amateur artist. I have a few pieces of artwork by "Chiv" which I would love to share with any interested descendants. Chiv seems to have obligingly drawn cards for other soldiers' wives and children. I also have his sketch of General Montgomery, one of my mother, and some lovely postcards of the courtship and wedding of two fish! My father was also in the KOYLI, but I think it was in the RA that he knew Chiv. He refers to Chiv having been taken POW. Please get in touch if you think you may have a connection to Chiv.
