    Title:

Fuerza Aérea Colombiana (Colombian Air Force)
    Brief History:

Military aviation started in 1922 with the creation of a Military Aviation School. During the hostilitis with Peru in 1932 military aviation was part of the Army. After the establishment of a United States Military and Naval Mission in 1942 Colombia received large quantities of aircraft. In 1943 the military and naval aviation were amalgated and the Colombian Air Force was created. Because of the participation of Colombian Forces in support of United Nations operations in Korea in 1950, FAC got more military aid. During the next two decades the FAC was expanded and increased emphasis on counter-insurgency role. No fundamental changes were made during the 1970s and the primary task of the service was internal security. Today the FAC is organised in six commands.
