Cwgc ???????????

    I just have to post this .... it's one of those "wow" things ....... :)

    Apparently he had had some sort of legal profession/role but prior to the great war had stood down from this because of failing abilities ...... does anybody know anything about him ??

    Age: 85
    Date of Death: 03/03/1916
    Additional information: Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. Son of the late William and Charlotte Clements, of Norwich; husband of Jane Elizabeth Clements, of 3, Chapel Field North, Norwich. Served in the Crimean War, 1853-56 (Alma, Balaklava, Inkerman and Sebastopol) and Turkish Medal. (One of the oldest know service deaths).
    Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
    Grave/Memorial Reference: 24. 167.
    Cemetery: NORWICH CEMETERY, Norfolk

    Wow indeed, 85 and still in uniform is amazing.

    Nothing new seems to come up for me . Seem to have the same info as you Annie.

    Usually the Guys and Gals at GWF come up with something however not this time.

    There were a number of cases where an old soldier was retained for admin duties and to provide a continuity for new recruits. Maybe he was sone of them.

    Well this is the census info ... found for me by a lady on Roots ....

    1881: Widower. age 50 .Capt. half pay, late Royal Dragoons

    1891 : Married age 60. Retired Q/Master Army. Hon. Capt. General Manager of "Cafe " Company (the quotes are on the census)

    1901 : Married age 70 Capt. on retired pay Army.

    He was born c. 1831 and on each census says born Norfolk Norwich
