Gareth Fowles, Dr Duncan ‘Chook’ played for New South Wales/Australia Players shown as representing New South Wales/Australia are those who played in the period 1919-1929, when the New South Wales Rugby Union was the only operating Union in Australia. These players were retrospectively awarded caps by the Australian Rugby Football Union in 1994. Internationals: 7 : 1921 SA- SA- SA- ; 1923 NZM+ NZM+ Duncan Fowles was born in Brisbane on 18 July 1895. Played as a Forward for Brisbane Grammar School, Sydney University, NSW Profession: Journalist and Medicine War service: 5347, Bombardier, 11th Field Artillery Brigade, Australian Imperial Force. He enlisted on 24 March 1915 and departed from Australia on 27 September . He served with the 3rd Brigade at Gallipoli and with the 4th Division Artillery on the Western Front before he returned to Australia on 3 May 1919.
