    Edward Campbell was born on 17 January 1880

    Played as a Wing for: Royal School Dungannon, Corrig College Kingstown, Trinity College Dublin, Monkstown, Leinster

    Profession: Minister

    War service: Deputy Acting Chaplain General 1917; Mentioned in Despatches 1916-1917; DSO 1917; Gazetted 1 January 1918.

    Remarks: He scored Ireland’s first try at Inverleith, v Scotland 1899.

    He died on 13 December 1957

    Grandson of the Very Rev Theo Campbell Dean of Dromore who was an Army Chaplain and won a DSO and was twice mentioned in despatches in WW1 ... he played rugby for Ireland while still a boy at school !

    Edward Fitzhardinge Campbell 1880-1957

    Edward Fitzhardinge Campbell, born January 17, 1880 and died December 13, 1957, is a former player of Irish rugby, which has evolved with the Irish team and the club Monkstown Football Club for the post of winger. He played his first test match February 18, 1899 against the team from Scotland. His last test match was against the team of Wales March 17, 1900. Edward Campbell won the UK Championship Rugby 1899.
