Someone, who shall remain nameless, was/is selling a signed copy of Humphries book for a very reasonable price. Suddenly, a few days ago the price almost tripled (whilst I was still thinking about it) to £50. Now I know why :(

Sobering to read statements like Leonard Cheshire (obituary, August 3, 2007) and “Willie” Tait (obituary, September 13, 2007). It really is sad but they were/are inspirational men.

I like the title of his book. He might not have been a flyer but...

    Harry Humphries

I published Harry Humphries book some years ago and had a few signed copies which were for sale at £25. When Harry, whom I was happy to call a friend, died, the price stayed the same. It did concern me that some people took advantage of his death in this way. One good thing is that a number of people who bought a signed copy did so to keep and treasure and in memory of what he stood for. Harry was one of the 'good guys', modest and a delight to know and is, no doubt, chuckling heartily, wherever he is, at all these goings on. Before he died we talked about a softcover reprint and this is now available at £10.95.
