Apparently research by Northrop suggests that the Horten 2-29 of WW2 could have preceded their own B2 as the first all-wing stealth bomber, by over forty years. The Aircraft that Could Have Made History - The DEW Line
Hmm, that'd be an interesting show to watch for sure - love the woodwork. It is certainly a very clean design. Just how fast was it supposed to be? If considerably faster than the German aircraft that took 19 minutes to get to their target, then naturally there would have been less notice. I'd also like to know if the radar was done to 'scale' i.e. the model is, by necessity, mounted at low level - a good altitude to avoid radar but, at the same time, opening the aircraft up to ground-based observers. If the aircraft was flying at 20,000 feet was it still hard to detect? Since the pole appears an established and oft-used structure, I imagine the radar is calibrated as such.
