    This is one of a series of posts to mark the international Rugby players who served in, and survived, The Great War. If anyone has further information on the men concerned, I’d be most grateful if it could be added to the thread.

    Internationals: 3: 1910 F+ ; 1911 F- W-

    Fletcher Buchanan was born on 23 December 1889

    Played as a Fullback/Centre for: Kelvinside Academy, Kelvinside Academicals, Oxford University

    Profession: N/k

    War service: Captain, Royal Engineers, Mentioned in Despatches

    Remarks: Nephew of Angus Buchanan [1871 E+ (1t)]. He was the Scottish long jump champion.

    He died in January 1967

    Well, the pre-match predictions weren't too accurate, though Buchanan was right about Scotland scoring 15 points: France won 16-15!
