Just read 'Forgotten Voices of the Somme' by Josh Levine. A great read and such an eye-opener. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Forgotten-V...6270/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1239540630&sr=8-1
There is so much information on the web about the Somme ... and photographs ... though books ( to me anyways ! ) are the best !! I always go for books that have photographs I haven't seen before .... I was disappointed in this book .... the one I really liked was The Somme by Peter Hart .... he is a historian with the knack for storytelling ! heart wrenching though ...... !! Annie
I love the way different people tell their story in small bitesize bits and the story moves along at the same pace.
Stories from people who were actually there are always very poignant ! Trouble is ... I can't read too many of them ... I " boo hoo " too much !!
