I have an ancestor named Ming from NC who is known as a veteran of the French and Indian War. My question is 'how can that be verified?' Where might I find more detailed records of the NC participation in that conflict?

I have a family note that Joseph Ming was a private in Captain Edward Vail's company in Chowan Co, NC on November 25, 1754. Would love to know what they did.

Well I do know a lot of North Carolinians were with Forbes' army in the western PA campaign of 1758.

I've always wanted them to be with the 1754 or 1755 expeditions but have no evidence. Kind of makes me think he might only be part of the militia mobilization in response to the losses.
