George Brandon McCullough passed away on August 24,
"Together Again"
2008 in the home of Obie and Betty Bender. He was born on March 16, 1912 in Pelham, Georgia to the late Rev. George and Frances McCullough. To that union was born eleven children. George grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida and moved to Canton, Ohio in 1942. He was employed by the Hoover Company and worked there for 34 years before retiring. He served in World War II in the 1888th Aviation Division as a Staff Sergeant in India and Burma. He was a faithful member of St. Paul A.M.E Church for more than 30 years. There he served on the Steward Board, Usher Board, sang in the Senior Choir, taught Sunday School and was director of the Chancellor Choir. At his death, George was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and served one term as Vice president of the congregation. He was also a member of Hiram Abiff Lodge No. 72 for more than 50 years. George was the father of two children, George (Bobby) McCullough and Betty Jean McCullough Bender. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his son, George Junior; four brothers; and five sisters. He leaves to mourn his daughter, Betty and son-in-law Obie; four grandchildren, Lydia (Ken), Craig, Rhonda and Monica; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a loving sister, Aver Gray of Tallahassee, Florida; and several special nieces and nephews. There will be no funeral per George's request. The family will have a viewing at the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel on Wednesday, August 27 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Forest Hill Cemetery, 4414 Cleveland Ave. NW. with Pastor Robert Smith officiating.
