Heres some interesting questions .... does anybody know the answers ?? Photographs of War memorial to killed and missing German airmen in Jenin, Palestine http://www.oucs.ox.ac.uk/ww1lit/gwa/document/9279/5273#doc-desc
There were several German air units attached to the Turkish Army in Palestine. The aeroplanes were sent there by rail for assembly. There have been articles in Over the Front (the Journal of the US-based League of WWI Aviation Historians) including Vol 16 No 2 - Summer 2001 which goes into detail on the graves of German airmen buried in Israel. For a coverage of the air war over Palestine, see: http://www.awm.gov.au/histories/first_world_war/volume.asp?levelID=67894 Gareth
Thanks Gareth ... I wonder if anybody has researched the names at all ?? ( I'm sure they probably have ! ) That would be an interesting project ( if nobodys done it ! ) ..... unfortunately I'm hopeless at German research !!
