There were several German air units attached to the Turkish Army in Palestine. The aeroplanes were sent there by rail for assembly. There have been articles in Over the Front (the Journal of the US-based League of WWI Aviation Historians) including Vol 16 No 2 - Summer 2001 which goes into detail on the graves of German airmen buried in Israel.

For a coverage of the air war over Palestine, see: http://www.awm.gov.au/histories/first_world_war/volume.asp?levelID=67894
