In honour of nostalgair and his father, a new thread on the Meteor. Pictures and more info appreciated: The Gloster Meteor
Hi Guys, Thanks for the thread. I can almost see my Dad getting embarrassed and wondering what all the fuss is about; but he'd certainly appreciate it. I've a swathe of Meteor shots, but at the moment I'm holding them in reserve for my current project. However, here's one to show one of the operational 'challenges' that were faced in Korea. Not quite as exciting as air-to-air, but breathtaking in a different way. Cheers Owen View attachment 981
It is breathtaking, Owen, thank you for posting it. It is especially appreciated given your current project.

Hi All, Here are 3 from Temora recently. Cheers Owen View attachment 990 View attachment 991 View attachment 992
Hi again, Yes Temora sure is a great place. (...and only a short flight from home) It is a real credit to EVERYONE involved there at all levels. It oozes genuine enthusiasm and passion. The sound of the Meteor is distinctive as the airflow hums past the gun-ports. Understandably, it's a favourite for me. I was also fortunate to help out recently in captioning some images for their latest display; appropriately for this thread it is titled "The RAAF in Korea". I might post a Temora gallery later if you're interested. Cheers Owen
We're always interesed - so post away. Us mere mortals who don't get a chance to get up close to these beauties can merely drool over the photos.
OK. I'll go through my archives and dig up some sets from Temora, Duxford and Chino. It might be this afternoon before I can get to it. Here's a few samples; *Duxford Spitfires and Gannet. *Temora Canberra and Fighter Formation. *Yours truly with the Tiger Moth at Dusk. Back on thread, Here's an early model Meteor from the "Planes of Fame" at Chino, California. Cheers Owen View attachment 998
