I bought this on e bay about 10 months ago for £1.00 and have been saving it ever since. It’s a lovely ink drawing measuring 4.5” by 3.5.” The border around the picture consist of tiny flowers each individually drawn.

One cannot help but wonder what became of R. Crowe. Was his love returned? Did he survive the war? Questions I would suggest that will never be answered.

We have to hope they got together, but if he was Bomber Command aircrew then we have to say the chances were against it.

Isn't it great? It would be wonderful if we could find out more about him.

Text from Lost Bombers. Appears to have been Lancaster BI LM121 (though the search of his name originally suggested LM142)

    LM121 took part in the following Key Operations: Trappes 31May/1Jun44; Massy-Palaiseau 7/8Jun44; Wesseling 21/22Jun44. Airborne 2141 24July44 from Mildenhall. all are buried in France at St-Desir War cemetery. F/L G.L.Reynolds KIA F/S E.G.Houghton RNZAF (P2) KIA Sgt J.P.Guy KIA F/O G.Tipping KIA F/O E.H.Harrison KIA F/s G.M.Wheeler KIA Sgt G.W.Whiting KIA Sgt R.F.Crowe KIA.

I guess all those who died left some broken hearts, of lovers or family; just occassionally we get a glimpse of the person and the loss behind the name.

At least he went with loving thoughts of someone.

Sounds a little sloppy but true all the same.
