After re-doing the garage roof, I had quite a bit of rubbish to throw out. So we have a service for £20 that the council offer to come and pick it up. But I wonder if its worth it. Here are the conditions.

    1. All nails and other foreign objects to be removed from wood
    2. No wood to be longer than 3m and/or weigh more than 16kgs
    3. Bags are to weigh no more than 20kgs
    4. All rubbish in bags to be packed that will allow full inspection of contents
    5. Total number and type of items to be collected should be itemised
    6. All rubbish to be no more than 2m from the kerbside
    7. Removal of rubbish to involve no more than 3 steps at a height of 0.5m

    :noidea:

Sounds like your council doesn't use grab arms mounted on trucks!

No, they use frail young and old individuals who dont want to work at the best of times never mind when it comes to heavy lifting. The council are scared that if they get pricked with a rusty nail or get a bad back lifting heavy bags then they will be off for months and sue them.
