Hello everyone! How amazing to find a forum specifically directed at military history. Its something I'm quite interested in in its own right - I love reading about Alexander the Great, for instance, he's a historical favourite of mine. But my real reason for joining is my own genealogical studies. My father and his brother were both in World War Two; my grandad on the other side of the family was in a reserved occupation, and people in his line of work (the merchant navy in home seas) were often killed; a great grandfather and two of his brothers enlisted in World War One ... I'm not sure about middle and later nineteenth century wars, but I definitely have a Napoleonic soldier, and a wife who travelled with him through the Peninsular Wars.
