Hi, My name is Kevin Leab and I am from Waynesboro, PA. I have a very high respect for all men and women thats served our country. I myself served in the U.S. Navy. My only connection with WW2 is my Grandfather, who I have been searching for for several years. I was hoping that someone here has either served with him or maybe know him. His name is John R. Turner, U.S. Army. I know he was stationed at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA before he was deployed to France. Before he left, he and my Grandmother had a relationship which resulted in the birth of my father, Gary Leab. If anyone here knows Mr. Turner or has any pictures please let me know....Thanks.
Welccome to the forum. I do hope you can find your grandfather. Do you know what regiment/battalion he was? it may be possible to track him down through an association.
Thanks, no I dont know anything about him except that I believe he was originally from New York and what I put in my original post. I've been searching draft and census records with no results. I've tried everything short of calling Oprah..lol.
Hmm is there a war babies group you can contact for help? Several were set up in Europe after the 50th anniversary of DDay. No photos or anything?
Kevin, does a bookstore on 'main' street still exist, at the time I was there last, called 'Buy the Book?' They had a good military section. Please let me know, as I want to visit again. I suspect the name has been changed as a search brought up two stores with different names from the above. Thanks, Fixel
