Just got back from Northern France where we visited the graves of 3 young men from my husband's bicycle club, Anfield Bicycle Club. We laid laurel and red (admiration) and white (love) carnations on each grave and at Thiepval and a laminated sheet which I have attached. It is very humbling seeing the many names on Thiepval and the many cemeteries/graves. War is a terrible thing, all those lives lost, all those families left to mourn. What was wonderful was how well they are all cared for and how many people were going to visit. 'They are not dead who fall in battle, giving their lives for honour, smiling at deaths dart; they are not dead whose memory still is living within a nations's heart'
