Gareth Dewar, Henry (‘Norkey’) played for New Zealand (The NZ Rugby Museum has his name as Dewer) Internationals: 2 : 1913 A+ US+ Henry Dewar was born on 13 October 1883, son of Lydia Dewar of Palmerston North. Played as a No 8 for: Newtown School, Berhampore School, Melrose, Wellington, Hawera, Star, Stratford, Taranaki, North Island Profession: Moulder Remarks: NZ 1913 tour to North America. He played 16 matches for the All Blacks, including 2 Internationals. War service: 11/448, Sergeant, Machine Gun Section, Wellington Mounted Rifles. He was killed in action on 19 August 1915, at Chunuk Bair, Gallipoli and is commemorated on the Chunuk Bair (NZ) Memorial, Turkey [Panel 4].
