Hello I'm Conovy, my real name is Isaiah. I signed up here because I've always had an interest in military history (and history in general) but never really talked about it with anyone. Hopefully that will change now! I'm particularly interested in 19th century history, but I'm well rounded and will learn about anything. This guy in my profile picture is my favorite general, for his facial hair more than anything else.

Welcome, conovy/Isaiah! Ah yes, General Burnside. Known for and originator of... sideburns. You gonna grow some of those and be a reenactor? :D

Maybe someday! I can't grow much of a beard though, if I could I wouldn't hesitate.

Welcome, I'm fairly new here too, only been here a week. I hope you enjoy your time here. This is a great forum, it has good people who are very welcoming to newcomers as far as I have seen. Conovy is also an interesting general that I haven't heard of, and I will go check him out and see if there is any information on him.

Conovy isn't a general as far as I know! This is just a random name I strung together. If he is that'd be quite a coincidence. Thanks for the welcome though, I like what I see here so far.

Oh, now I feel very dumb, I actually went searching for something on him. This is where my lack of civil war knowledge is now in full view for everyone to see.

Aw man, if I'd have a dollar... no, just a dime :p for every time I've "felt very dumb" I could buy Burnside Bridge from the NPS. Now if that isn't a good segue, I've never heard one!

Don't worry, we were all looking the other way and didn't see a thing! hehe Seriously, though, the avatar is General Ambrose Burnside, which is where the term sideburns originated, *BUT* I'm sure that's not what he wanted to be remembered for. Check out his career.

The Burnside Bridge I mentioned is at Antietam battlefield... named after the General. I love going there... it's very peaceful now but surely wasn't back then. The battlefield is in Sharpsburg, MD.
