Hop Maddocks - Wales

    I can't find Hop in the CWGC .... as he died of wounds - did he die after the cut off date for CWGC ?

    Maddocks, Hopkin Thomas MC okayed for Wales

    Internationals: 6 : 1906 E+ (1t) S+ (1t) I- ; 1907 E+ (2t) S- ; 1910 F+ (2t)

    Hopkin Maddocks (often referred to as Maddock) was born on 1881, in Pontycymmer.

    Played as a Wing for: Christ’s College Brecon, Pontycymmer, London Welsh, Middlesex, Glamorgan

    Profession: Local Taxation Officer, London County Council.

    War service: 3009 Private, Royal Fusiliers (Public Schools Battalion) [either the 18th, 19th, 20th or 21st Battalion] enlisted on 15 September 1914. Commissioned into the Machine Gun Corps on 25 September 1916 and promoted from temporary Second Lieutenant to Temporary Lieutenant on 26 April 1918. He relinquished his commission on 1 September 1921.

    Remarks: Captained London Welsh 1909-1910 and 1911-1912. He played for Glamorgan (3-6) v the 1906 Springboks and for the Anglo-Welsh (0-24) v the 1908-1909 Wallabies.

    He died from the effects of wounds on 15 December 1921, in Cardiff.
