Exactly how much damage did Sherman do on his march to the sea? I really only know about Atlanta being affected; what other cities were burned during his march?
A lot of damage was done, but I don't know that he burned any more cities on the March to the Sea. He burned cotton crops, gins and storage facilities. He destroyed railroads to cut off supply lines and destroyed bridges and captured ferrys along the rivers. He captured Forts but I don't think he burned them. Later, during his march through the Carolinas, I know Columbia, SC was burned to the ground.
