I'm not "up" on airplanes I'm afraid but I found this while I was looking for something else .... thought somebody may be interested !! Westland Wapiti in Indian Air Force Service - Polly Singh
Great link, Annie. The website layout looks familiar so I think Kyt may have posted other parts of it before relating to Indians in the RAF. Did you see the Wapiti with the reversed swastika on her nose? A good luck charm for Hindus, I think, probably completely wrong as I initially thought it was a Buddhist symbol.
I remember seeing swastikas on temples in Vietnam. I think they were Buddhist. Also I believe the Finns had a blue swastica on their aircraft.
Thanks for the link Annie. The more the website gets publicity the better as Jagan has done a superb job. Having said that, it is now so big that I hadn't actually seen the Wapiti page. I've never really been into biplanes (except the Glad and the 'Fish) but I have developed a soft spot for the Wapiti, just becuase of its service in the IAF, and RAF in India, especially the NWF
