There is a very good little book called Battle over Malta: Aircraft Losses and Crash Site 1940-42 by Anthony Rogers which details causes and crews. Unfortunately, there are very few pictures, and so hasn't been of help with Vincent's project. But certainly a book for when one visits Malta
