    I came across one of Alf's memorials ..... as Irish research is hard I thought I would post this ... just in case !

    This memorial can be found at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire

    KNOX William Hutchinson Able Seaman, Merchant Navy S.S. British Commander (London) Died 2/3/1945 age 59.Son of Francis Blake Knox and Alice Knox. Of Dun Loaghaire, Co Dublin. Buried in Rheinberg War Cemetery, Germany 5.B.2

    CORR Owen Able Seaman, Merchant Navy, M.V. Silver Fir (London) died 27/4/1944 age 29. Son of Laurence and Jane Corr, of Rush, Co. Dublin, Irish Republic. Buried in Rheinberg War Cemetery, Germany 7.D.15

    O’HARA Gerald 1st Radio Officer, Merchant Navy, S.S. Devon [London] died 15/3/1944 age 50 Husband of Jane O'Hara. Of Co Mayo, Buried in Rheinberg War Cemetery, Germany 7.D.14

    BREEN Patrick Able Seaman Merchant Navy, S.S. Athelfoam (Liverpool) died 13/5/1943 age 58. Son of Moses and Annie Breen, of Blackwater Co Wexford, Irish Republic. Commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial, London

    MURPHY Thomas Able Seaman, Merchant Navy, S.S. Earlston (Newcastle-on-Tyne) died 27/4/1944 age 53 Son of Dennis and Ellen Murphy, of Dublin, Irish Republic; husband of Ellen Murphy, of Dublin. Buried in Rheinberg War Cemetery, Germany 7.D. 13
