Kitty celebrates 100th birthday - Worthing Today

KITTY GODDARD celebrated her 100th birthday with a family gathering... and an especially large cake.

Born in north London in 1908, Kitty is the youngest of a family of eight children.

She moved recently to St George's Lodge care home in Worthing from Hertfordshire to be near her son and his family, who live in Steyning.

"If I could have one wish on my 100th birthday, well I don't need money and I don't need beauty, I wish for my son and his family to be happy and healthy for the rest of their lives," said Kitty.

Residents at the care home in Chesswood Road, Worthing, and her family joined together to celebrate.

Manager Lyn Young said: "The chef made her a big cake with lots of candles and we all sang happy birthday."

Kitty married Frank Goddard in 1937 and had one son.

They were married for 57 years.

During World War Two, Kitty was involved in work for aircraft company Handley Page.
