Gareth Haigh, Leonard played for England Internationals: 7 : 1910 W+ I= S+ ; 1911 W- F+ I- S+ Leonard Haigh was born on 19 October 1886, in Prestwich. Played as a Prop for: Sandringham House Southport, Manchester, North (v South), Rest (v England), England XV v South, Barbarians, Lancashire Profession: Remarks: Played Association football and cricket for his school. A good fisherman and shot, and useful at golf. Played Rugby for Yorkshire (0-24) v the 1908-1909 Wallabies. Played for Barbarians: v Penarth (13-6) v Cardiff (8-15) in 1911. War service: M2/194121, Cadet Officer, Army Service Corps (Mechanical Transport). Due to a keen interest in motoring he was in the Officers’ Training Corps of the ASC. He died of double pneumonia while in training on 6 August 1916, in Woolwich, and is buried in Pott Shrigley (St Christopher) Churchyard, Cheshire, England.
