Nicely done, Annie. How could you resist?! Heidi, PT was a pre-war ('39-'45) pilot who was a S/L during the Battle of Britian, had a distinguished wartime career and a fascinating post-war life. He moved in some interesting circles. I think I've only read this book that Annie has been given (or his one about night flying against the German bombers) and that was many years ago (don't own it). He's written several books, some of which have nothing to do with the BoB but are, apparently, very good reads. One of these days, I'll get my act together and collect his entire bibliography. Annie, do you have any of his other works?
Well it just shows how good I am ..... I have the Last Emperor - King George VI and his Reign and I didn't even realise he wrote it !! I was thrilled to get it this one today !! ... I always thought he got a raw deal ( though maybe when you really think about it ... he probably got the best deal ! ) but still he was treated kind of shabbily I think ..... !! I should look and see what else he did ... because apart from his war record I really don't know that much about him to be honest !! I am really going to get my act together and do something about my books ... I started off really good having them catalogued etc ... but then I let it slide and now I'm overwhelmed .... ( though I must admit ... it's a lovely feeling to be overwhelmed with books .... kind of on a par with having a full tank of gas or a $10.00 bill that doesn't need to be paid to somebody else !! )
Hi Andy.I thought her(Annies) book said- Duels of Eagles ww1 and battles in the skys*something like that. I thought it meant a ww1 Britsh pilots in battle with German pilots. Hence, mauybe i should be on the Wally thread.:embarassed:
Heidi, the book was written by a WWII pilot about the development of air fighting leading up to, and including, the Battle of Britain. A very qualified person to write about it. As Kyt has said in another thread, if you're going to comment, make sure you've read any links in the post as they often answer any questions you might have.
