    Not many aces brought down five bombers from one formation...

    I didn't realise that Chicago O'Hare was named after him

    Flew with Thach, mentored Vraciu, he was certainly a guru when it came to aerial combat. His loss must have been keenly felt.

    As an aside, Vraciu's Hellcat in which he scored at least some of his victories is owned and flown by The Fighter Collection at Duxford!
