It is fantastic news, and shows the support for the injured troops. Also highlights the council's lack of flexibility and sympathy. Unfortunately, it the problem that many disabled people face when trying to lead a normal life but require home improvements to do so.

On a sort of similar theme.

A gentleman came to look at our bungalow who is retained by a charity to find suitable accommodation for those who have been severely disabled in car accidents and the like. I do not know if the MOD also uses such services. His survey (which lasted about an hour in retaking measurements already published in the sales brochure) achieved no more than a phone call to the agents would have done. He drove over 100 miles to get here, waited at the top of the drive for three quarters of an hour, and in the leaflet he gave us it said that his fees were £60 per hour travelling time and £80 per hour for the survey. These costs to be deducted from the payout made to the victim. Am I the only one who thinks that there is no end to the ways that some people rip others off when they are most vulnerable?
