Welcome 'Radar', I hope you enjoy: There are plenty of people with loads of knowledge here and that knowledge when combined covers the entire war. I used to watch MASH at every opportunity when I was young it was funny serious and informative, the producers directors used storeys sent in by people who served at MASH units as the basis of many episodes, much of the show was based on real events that actually happened to MASH Doctors and other MASH personnel. It also was the only war show my father would watch and he spent a year fighting in Korea including a short time in a MASH before being moved on to Commonwealth medical units.
thats nice. it was good how they put humor in serious things... M*A*S*H was actually based on a real life M*A*S*H outfit. the 8055th
That's right i now remember something about MASH being based on a actual MASH unit. As said above, they also utilized many true stories sent into them by ex Mash personnel from other MASH units as well as stories from other Military Hospitals, and RAP's etc. In the original movie their is a Australian Doctor by name of Major Black (?) he got bit parts during the TV series. But this and other characters show that MASH units had doctors attached from many of the nations who deployed to Korea.
