I seen that on Fox news they were saying that the pilot saved the crew and that he is a hero , which is true.:clapping:

Amazing what can be done with an old style pilot who is trained to fly, not follow a computers orders. Good man. And well done to all the ferry crews.

Landing at LaGuardia is hairy enough. I can't imagine having to land in the Hudson.

This article gives suggestions as to how to survive an airliner crash.
What I've always wondered is, how am I supposed to put on a life jacket in an economy seat - especially in the time these people had.

Gee, someone upstairs was certainly looking after them. I noticed there was a young Aussie girl on the plane.

Pleased your friends are ok, Lee.
Saw more footage on news this morning of aircraft ditching and ferries helping. Fantastic bit of skill on behalf of the pilot.
Nice to see good news for a change.

When my thirteen year-old daughter heard that the airliner went down after apparently hitting a flock of geese, (and before hearing that all the people survived), her response was

    "Were the geese alright?"

    Minced goose, anyone?

I think many people will be asking the same question as your daughter, Adrian.

As a parent how did you explain the outcome of a goose and aero-engine coming together?

I tried to explain the working of a CFM56 turbofan, and in particularly the compressor on the front end and its likely effect on our feathered friends, but lost her after about five seconds and emphasized that it would have been a quick death.

Which seemed to upset her even more. A sensitive child; must get it from her mother.
