No Hitler cake

OK, I take back what said about this story. THIS has to be the dumbest:

Heath and Deborah Campbell were furious when their local baker in New Jersey refused to decorate a birthday cake with the name of their baby boy.

But ShopRite, in Holland Township, ignored the parents’ pleas after concluding that “Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler” was an inappropriate use of icing sugar.

Adolf Hitler Campbell turned 3 this week and celebrated at a party with his younger sisters Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie (sic – apparently in tribute to Heinrich Himmler) and JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell.

His parents insisted that some of the toddler’s best friends were black. Mr Campbell, 35, said that about 12 people attended the birthday party on Sunday, including several children who were of mixed race.

“If we’re so racist, then why would I have them come into my home?” he asked.

A spokeswoman for ShopRite said that this was not the bakery department’s first run in with the Campbells – a similar request was denied two years ago when the shop also refused to daub swastikas on baked goods for the family.

“We reserve the right not to print anything on the cake that we deem to be inappropriate,” Karen Meleta said. “We considered this inappropriate.”

Mrs Campbell, 25, said she phoned in her order last week to the ShopRite, but when she told the bakery department she wanted her son’s name spelled out, she was told to talk to a supervisor, who denied the request.

The angry father, who was wearing a pair of black boots that he claimed were Second World War German artefacts, said: “They need to accept a name. A name’s a name. The kid isn’t going to grow up and do what (Hitler) did.”

He said he named his son after the leader of the Third Reich because he liked the name and because “no one else in the world would have that name.”

"Other kids get their cake," he complained. "I get a hard time. It's not fair to my children. How can a name be offensive?"

I cannot imagine what life is going to be like for the child as he grows up. He is going to cop so many bashings off other kids because of his name.
How stupid is his father to inflicked this upon his son

Umm... Why would you name your kid that? Did any of you notice that his name , first name Adolf, middle name Hitler, then last name, and they ordered a cake that said Adolf Hitler was his name. What I"m saying is that the cake says his first name then middle name. I also believe that kid is going to be called Jew hater for the rest of his life. And his dad wears " Jack Boots" . It just seems like they are a little absessed with the "Third Reich". Long message is it not.eep::noidea:

Spot on, WH. Why not write "Happy Birthday Adolf" or "Happy Birthday Adolf Campbell" (which would be odd anyway) as opposed to "Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler"?

A CHILD named Adolf Hitler Campbell and his siblings have been taken from their family by child welfare workers.
The New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services removed three-year-old Adolf and his younger sisters, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell from their home on Tuesday, The Associated Press reports.

Agency spokeswoman Kate Bernyk said it would not provide any details on why the children were removed.

The kids' parents, Heath and Deborah Campbell, received worldwide attention last month when they complained that a shop had refused to make Adolf a birthday cake.

Mr Campbell, 35, has decorated his home with swastikas and says he is related to a member of the SS.

But he said it is the store that wouldn't write "Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler" on a cake that should have shown more consideration for other people's feelings.

"They need to accept a name. A name's a name. The kid isn't going to grow up and do what (Hitler) did," he told the Associated Press at the time of the cake incident.

But the ShopRite store that refused the cake request says it did the right thing.

"We believe the request ... to inscribe a birthday wish to Adolf Hitler is inappropriate," spokeswoman Karen Meleta told the Express-Times newspaper.

The store has also refused to make a cake bearing the name of JoyceLynn Aryan Nation, who turns two next month.

Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, named for SS head Heinrich Himmler, turns one in April.

He said he named his son after Adolf Hitler because he liked the name and because "no one else in the world would have that name".

"They're just names, you know," he told the Express-Times newspaper.

"Yeah, they (Nazis) were bad people back then. But my kids are little. They're not going to grow up like that."

"Other kids get their cake. I get a hard time," he said. "It's not fair to my children.'

Mr Campbell said he didn't expect the names to cause problems when the children start school.
