From what I understand its an engine failure after take-off at Dunkeswell in Devon.

Hmm... I think thats a little suspect - firstly the passenger in the front seat hardly notices.

But mainly because if he had really hit a cow it would have taken the wing off the Tiger Moth and in fact been quite a serious accident.

David - we must have cross-posted!
Clearly an engine failure as he lands straight after take-off. But I think the cow is artistic licence, or at least he didn't actually hit it.

I agree. Would have probably ripped the wing off the Tiger. Aircraft doesn't seem to move either upon "impact".

    Hi All,

I've been off the radar for a while with a sea of work. I'll try and pop in a little more from now on.

    Nice to see I'm remembered....even if it's for hitting a cow.:becky:

    Cheers

This has now been reported in the Daily Telegraph. It seems the incident was the subject of an AAIB investigation and a collision did actually occur.
But I still say the wing must have only grazed the cow, otherwise the aircraft would have ground-looped or worse, and the front-seat passenger would have actually noticed!
