Notificication of Pathfinder award.

    A little over three weeks after being shot down my father's C/O sent the attached letter to my mother.

    The letter tells her of the award of the Pathfinder Badge to my father.

    Interesting how she was not to mention it in correspondence.

    This must be a highly treasured possession of yourself and your mother.

    I presume that the notion of him being a POW was far too optimistic?

    The last paragraph of the first letter is interesting. I thiought the Pathfinder badge was worn on the uniform (though not in you dad's case David as he didn't get it before he was shotdown). So wouldn't the Germans have known what it was already - they had their ways in finding out?
