Concerns aired over paintball plans impact on WWII huts - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

A proponent of a paintball facility in Goulburn could be asked to amend plans to preserve historic huts used during World War II.

Shane Craven has asked the Goulburn Mulwaree Shire Council to approve the paintball facility in Hume Street.

Three paintball playing fields, as well as the installation of a shipping container to secure guns, and 14 car spaces, would form part of the Goulburn workers' area at the rear of a recently built indoor sports centre.

A report to tonight's council meeting states that the council's heritage adviser is concerned about what impact the sport will have on the site's Nissen huts.

The huts were used during the second World War and areconsidered to be among the only remaining intact huts.

A recommendation to the meeting states that councillors ask the proponent to amend the plans to reduce the impact, and if he does not, the council should refuse the development application.
