Gareth Buchanan, Peter Neave played for New South Wales/Australia* * = Players shown as representing New South Wales/Australia are those who played in the period 1919-1929, when the New South Wales Rugby Union was the only operating Union in Australia. These players were retrospectively awarded caps by the Australian Rugby Football Union in 1994. Internationals: 1 : 1923 NZ+ Peter Buchanan was born in Wellington, New Zealand on 11 January 1889. Played as a Half-Back for AIF, Glebe-Balmain and NSW Profession: Joiner War service: 4800, Sergeant, 3rd Battalion, Australian Imperial Force. He enlisted in the 19th Battalion on 21 September 1915 and departed from Sydney on HMAT A40 Ceramic on 13 April 1916, he returned to Australia on 15 May 1919 on HMAT Orontes. Remarks: Buchanan was captain of the AIF Trench team (formed from troops in France) and vice-captain of the AIF XV. After his discharge he joined Glebe-Balmain RFC. In his only international, he sent winger ‘Stumpy’ Crossman in for the winning try in NSW’s 14-12 victory. He played 7 times for NSW. He died on ?
