I found a small "factoid" in my reading over the past year but have yet to find confirmation of it. Can someone help me out?

One reason for Prime Minister Chamberlin's resignation during the crisis of May, 1940, was his lack of physical energy to do the job required of him. This allegedly was because he had CANCER. Is this true? Was he sick? If so, when did he learn of him illness?

Chamberlin left office in May 1940 and died six months later in November. He died of intestinal cancer which had been found in an operation, looking for the cause of his on going abdominal pain, in July. Six months, in those days, from noticeable manifestations to the bitter end, was fairly typical.
