Gareth Fogarty, Richard MM played for New Zealand Internationals: 2 : 1921 SA+ SA= Richard Fogarty was born on 12 December 1891, in Matakanui Played as a No 8/hooker for: Union, Otago, Hawera, Auckland, College Rifles, Taranaki, Combined Services Profession: Carpenter War service: 23/1048 Rifleman, later Lance Sergeant 1st NZ Rifle Brigade, MM Gazetted 29 August 1918. Remarks: NZ Army team in King’s Cup and NZ tour of South Africa 1919, for which he was promoted to Sergeant, as were all the team. He played 2 matches for the All Blacks, both Internationals. He died on 9 September 1980 in Dunedin. He was the oldest All Black at the time of his death.
